Kelowna Energy Audit

kelowna energy auditTotal Home Solutions is improving the planet one home at a time and we are familiar with all the details to be able to guide you through the program that applies to your home improvement plans.  These energy saving programs are in place because of the cooperation between the Federal and Provincial Governments as well as British Columbia’s Utility Partners, BC Hydro and Fortis BC.

Your Total Home energy evaluator can apply to each efficiency program in which you are eligible.

The programs, however, apply different rules when it comes to past participants in any of the programs.

Kelowna Energy Rebates - How it works

The first Kelowna energy audit must take place before you renovate - if you want your energy-saving upgrades to qualify for BC Rebates.

A second energy audit must be completed after all upgrades are finished.

Kelowna energy audit - You pay $300 for the first home energy audit.  The BC government subsidizes the cost of homeowners’ first Kelowna energy audit through the LiveSmart BC program, regardless of whether homeowners make any energy-saving renovations.

First energy audit - Your first Kelowna home energy audit takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete. Your certified ecoENERGY advisor will be happy to answer any questions about energy use in your home. The advisor will need access to the entire house, including attic, crawl space, heating and cooling equipment, or any other hard to reach areas.

Grant report - You’ll receive an ecoENERGY report as part of the first ecoENERGY audit. This report contains recommendations on how to improve the energy efficiency of your Kelowna home.

Upgrade your Kelowna home - After reading your ecoENERGY report you may choose to do all, some, or none of the recommended energy-saving upgrades to your Kelowna home. You can complete the renovation work yourself or hire a contractor. You should document your renovations with receipts, photos and product literature to be sure you get full credit for all improvements.

Second Kelowna energy audit - To be eligible for both Canada ecoENERGY grants and LiveSmart BC grants, homeowners need a second, or follow-up Kelowna home energy audit.  In BC, the cost of a follow-up ecoENERGY audit is $150.

Grant cheques - Kelowna homeowners can expect to receive a Government of Canada ecoENERGY grant cheque and a LiveSmart BC rebate cheque, mailed to their address, approximately 90 days or more after their second Kelowna energy audit. The Government of Canada and BC government issue cheques separately according to their own criteria and deadlines.

LiveSmart BC - To qualify for LiveSmart BC rebates, you must finish your upgrade work and complete your second Kelowna energy audit within 18 months of your first energy audit or before March 31, 2013, whichever comes first.

  • We have completed our energy evaluation process and have seen a huge change in our gas bills. They are consistently 1/3 to 1/4 of what they previously were. We are very impressed. Thank you!

  • Built Rite Homes has worked with Total Home Solutions over the past several years. Together we have enrolled, modeled, and tested a number of Built Green and ENERGYSTAR certified homes. Their knowledge of the various aspects of energy certification and testing is outstanding. This has allowed us to attain our overall goal to build High Performing Homes with the goal of reducing long term operating costs and provide a more comfortable living experience for our clients. In addition they have helped us to stay abreast of the constantly changing (and sometimes confusing) world of rebates available from Governments and energy providers.
